MINOR TRIP - DAY 4 @ PARIS

Our First Station is Villa Savoye by the famous architect, Le Corbusier. As usual, we depart from hotel at 9am. This time, Semester 3 students will be in charge in directing the road. So, the night before that day we have done our research in room by referring the map and online research.

This time we will be taking metro train from our hotel to Charles de Gaulle Etoile station, then from Etoile we take the RER A line metro train to Poissy station which is out of the city area. The train is a double decked train ! WOW it's a brilliant idea as double-decked train is much space saving and can carry more passengers.

Once we reach the station, we took the shuttle bus to Villa Savoye stand, Guess what ! The bus passengers can ride the bus for FREE on that day ! It's hardly to get free transport there.*blinkeyes*

on the way walking to Villa Savoye. It's surrounded by greenery plants and trees

Here we are at Villa Savoye

It seems to look older than what we seen on book or internet as the paint were faded off. Wonder why they never repaint the white color of the facade.

Le Corbusier designed Villa Savoye based on the "The Five Points of a  Architecture" :
  • Pilotis – The replacement of supporting walls by a grid of reinforced concrete columns so that the building seems floating
  • The open plan – The absence of supporting walls
  • The free facade – By separating the exterior of the building from its structural function the facade becomes free.
  • The ribbon window – continuous long window to allow rooms to be lit by sunlight equally.
  • Roof Garden – plants can be planted on roof top.

The furniture designed by Le Corbusier  are extremely comfortable ! The material used is soft n elastic. I almost fell asleep when I was relaxing on it while watching over the roof garden. It is as comfortable as the bed !
The Chaise Longue Chair with headrest pillow on it !

Well the material seems like made from animal skin O.O

 The Grand Armchair
After visiting the facade, we were able to understand the importance of 5 points of architectures and appreciate the building more. So the next station we headed to Arc de Triomphe.

The Arc de Triomphe was built to honor the soldiers who fought and died in the Napoleonic Wars and beneath it lies the tomb of the unknown soldiers from World War 1.

Arc de Triomphe just right in front of us

Look at the details of the sculptures.....that's so heavenly amazing for me.

On that night, we went to Eiffel Tower again just to see the nightview of it !
WOW This is too beautiful ! Enjoying the cold wind and the romance is everywhere !
(you can see lovely sweet couples everywhere, kissing and hugging opps.
On that night watching at of glory of Eiffel Tower, I feel like everything is worth for my entire
                                                                                 life...
Eiffel Tower in GOLD color!!!
Eiffel Tower started to blink with these shinning lights in every 30 minutes. Such a breathtaking scene.
