DESIGN FINAL PRESENTATION

DESIGN PROJECT 3 : ZOO VISITOR CENTRE

For this final project, our objective is to create programming activities to our zoo visitor centre creatively, effectively and functionally in the space given based on the 5 pillars of Zoo Negara we have researched.  For this case, the site and floor plans are given which is the current Zoo Negara Office department. It's a circular shape facade which means the floor plan will be a round shape floor plan.

Well, for me this is a quite challenging assignment project as the main purpose of the visitor center is to spread the messages of Zoo Negara 5 pillars to the visitors. So, we need to think of the programming for spaces very creatively and suitable for all-aged users. The programs inside must not be too bored or too difficult to the visitors and must be worth for the entrance fees.

For me it tooks about 1 to 2 months to complete the whole project. Starting from programming designing and approval by lecturers.  3D perspectives, model making and presentation board arranging.

A CLOSE UP TO RAPID VISUALISATION OF THE PROGRAMMING ACTIVITIES

The title of my visitor centre is A WALK INTO FLORA AND FAUNA.

Feeling grateful that I finally complete 8 A1 boards before the pin up date. A big applause to myself. Thank you for all the lecturers for the golden teaching advises and comments. IA DESIGN 03 has marked to an end. :)

MINOR TRIP - BACK TO REALITY !!

DAY 10 :

Today will be an FREE & EASY day for us as that night we are going back to PARIS, & from PARIS HEADING BACK TO DUBAI , then MALAYSIA (REALITY).

Woke up early on that day to pack our luggage first. & We were seperated into 2 groups. The first group will be going to Portobello Road Market with Ms Sharmila, the second group will be going for shopping at Harrods and Oxford Street with Ms Norji. Yes... I am not really wanted to shopping but I have joined Ms Norji's group as I am always stick to Shook Fun. Hehe.

We have chosen to go to Harrods Mall first to look for handbags. Harrods is a big department selling branded stuffs like LV, Gucci, Prada, Chanel etc.

It seems to be like a grand Palace from the exterior but it's actually a Mall.
You will never see such a mall in Malaysia.
The design of the interior are so luxurious. Seriously think that this mall is only for Rich people.
Feeling like I am just a random street people trying to blend in with the rich.

Shook Fun and Jieling are looking for handbags for their moms, while me and Elyne were walking around to see what's still have inside such a big mall. We walked to an area which is an exhibition hall that display a series of artworks ( utensil & furniture)  designed by the famous architect, Zaha Hadid.
Zaha Hadid's works gallery display

These wings-liked thingy is actually a hanging light

A series of relief model wall decoration

Abstract vase

abstract plates. Well I think it's suitable for fruit display. Lol
After shopping session at Harrods, we proceeded to Oxford Street by bus. The first station, we went in to a shop which is called as Primark. It is an Irish clothing retailer which selling clothes at cheap prices !  ( not more than 20 pounds ). I have bought myself a shirt at 3 Pounds ( rm15) and it's totally worth it !

After a tiring shopping, we went back to our hostel to check out. We headed to bus station straight to take the bus to Paris. It was a long journey. We have been staying and sleeping on the bus for 10 hours until we reached Paris the next morning. Again, our second "amazing race" begins. We pulled our luggage and backpacks all the way from bus station to the Charles de Gaulle Airport. We were actually early to the airport. *Can't wait to go back feeling* While checking in our luggage, unlucky things happened. We just realised that our flight is actually 9.45PM !! & ONLY FOR SEM3 SEM4 students and Ms Norji. While for the others, they can go back earlier by taking the earlier flight at 3.05pm... I was totally speechless but got nothing to do with it.

After 6 hours waiting in the airport we can finally boarding to the flight to Dubai. & another 4 hours of waiting at the Dubai Airport. Lastly, we were finally boarding to the last flight back to Malaysia !!! HURRAYYYY !!!!

That feeling is kinda gross because this is the first time I didn't bath myself for 2 days ... Ewww... I must be smelly all the way from London to Malaysia >.<

For me this is the most wonderful course trip I have ever went to. To be honest, this is the first time I have ever going to Western country full of angmos (mat salleh). As you know that we rarely see angmos in Malaysia, but angmos are everywhere in Europe! The cute one, handsome guy, charming guy, pretty girl, blonde hair, hairy guy....). Other than that, I have gained a lot of knowledge and get to widen my eye view in this trip. I learnt to see things differently.  I feel so gratful and happy that I can finally witness the real Eiffel tower, Arc de Triomphe, Mona Lisa, the Big Ben etc ... all the landmarks of the countries with my bare eyes... I mean I can't  believe I am standing next to it. Not more in TV or magazines ! That is the most happy thing I can say. :) Thank you Ms Sharmila for organizing this trip and thanks for the cooperation of everyone, every of us. This trip will forever be the most memorable experiences in my life :)

MINOR TRIP - DAY 9 @ LONDON

Day 9 is here and we are getting closer to the end of the trip, means we are going back Malaysia soon. Awww.... :( Wondering I should feel happy or sad about it ?

Our first station will be....King's Cross Metro Station where the Platform 9 3/4 situated ! ONLY HARRY POTTER'S FANS know about this place. We were queueing up to take pictures with the half luggage trolley and birdcage. LOL. Well.. I am not a big fans of Harry Potter but since everyone says this is a MUST TAKE PHOTO... so... there you go. We queued for half and hour and finally is my turn. A good picture captured by Nano :) I am so satisfied with this picture haha. Feeling like a nerd :P

After that, we were heading to Arsenal Stadium. We can see there's a big smile of Vijay's face as we know that the day is VJ'S DAY !!! He is a super FANS OF ARSENAL FOOTBALL TEAM !!!!

The Arsenal Stadium
I am not the kind of football fans. I have zero knowledge about the football teams, where they come from, and who are the players. So I just simply gone through the gift shop and check out what's cool there.

ARSENAL souviner shop. Opps I only know about Ozil.

Groupfie with the HAPPY VJ

We didn't get to visit the stadium hall as entrance fees is needed. Since we girls are not a football fans, so we were separated into 2 groups. Ms Sharmila, Hakim and Vijay will be going in to the Stadium Hall while the rest will be following Ms Norji to Tate Modern Museum and Tower Bridge

I like the interior of the Tate Modern Hall. It has a big huge window and very high ceiling wall which added more mysterious to it.

Tate Modern Museum

The interior space
I wasn't so into it. So I was just randomly walking around the spaces to pass the time. We will meet up with the others after 2 hours. The art pieces are hardly to understand for me. So I did not capture any of it.

The Millennium Bridge from Tate Modern
On our way walking to Tower Bridge on Millenium Bridge
We dropped by at a restaurant to have our lunch. The restaurant is promoting their main course - Fish & Chips at 6.90 pounds ! Well it's much cheaper than the other food. So faster grab it !

Best Fish & Chips in Town ?? Hmm...

Well, it taste awesome good and crispy !!! I can feel the aroma of fish meat dissolved in my mouth at the first bite. This is the best FISH & CHIPS I had in London !

Ice Cream as dessert after lunch :)  The ice cream seems to melt faster in cold weather but WHY ??

Tadaa ! Here we are at Tower of London
Thousands of ceramic red poppies have been planted around the Tower of London for centenary marking the start of the First World War. The Tower seems to be surrounded by seas of RED. The red ceramic poppies are actually created by ceramic artist Paul Cummins and set up by Tom Piper. The poppies are all handmade and unique from each other to representing a British military fatality during the First World War.
The beautiful scenery of Tower of London

We are getting closer to the Tower Bridge
This is THE TOWER BRIDGE !! We have been calling it as LONDON BRIDGE for years ! Now we finally know the truth !

Walking on the Tower Bridge

The bridge is painted in BLUE. Most of the part.

We finally met Ms Sharmila, Hakim and VJ at the Tower Bridge. So, we were heading to Royal Festival Hall at Southbank and found out that there is a night market selling all those delicious local food !!! I can feel my stomach is growling ....gru gru gruuuu. Surprisingly a little simple bites can easily fill our stomach. I am satisfied with it yum yumm.

The fresh Strawberries :)

Hotdog selling booth

This Huge tasty hotdog sells at 5pounds ! but 4 of us are sharing one in order to save money.

In Western country, the wine can be sells everywhere and it's cheaper than water!! Sadly I am not good at drinking. Wine isn't my cup of tea.

After a tired nightwalk around the Festival Hall, we finally get back to our hostel and sleep. The next day will be our last day in London :(

MINOR TRIP - DAY 8 @ LONDON

Heading to Buckingham Palace at Green Park station to see the Change of Guard Ceremony. We were there earlier in order to get a nice position to witness the whole process of the ceremony. We were asked to meet at a place after the ceremony. So, me and Nano decided to book at a place nearby the gate first before the ceremony starts at 11.30am.

The Buckingham Palace. There's a ENGLAND flag on top of it.

Feel royalty huh looking at the big gate
The place is getting crowded as the time passed. Both of us standing close to each other to prevent pickpockets and prevent from getting lost in the crowd. There are so many tourists holding cameras and eager to watch the ceremony, yet they keep on pushing forward to approach the gate. I feel like I am being sandwiched at middle >.< That's not a good feeling.

The Process of Changing Guards begins with a band parade.

These team of guards are known as Queen's Guard

They are performing music instruments on the street.

Police riding on a a sexy horse.
As I said you can see Cameras everywhere.
I feel I am too short to witness the whole process of ceremony. I was trying so hard to stand on my tiptoes but still too many tall peoples and cameras blocking my vision. Ends up not much photos I have captured. Was feeling a bit pissed off at that moment. *sigh*

After this, our next station is Discovery Children's Story Centre at Stratford as our seniors are using that building as case study for their assignment. The storybook centre is for children of aged 1 to 11. It is a play and learning centre for the kids to have fun meanwhile gaining knowledge for growing purposes. The spaces are specially designed for the kids. Even the furniture are designed based on kids' anthropometry. The theme for the interior design is funky where you can see colourful wall arts and fancy decorations.

Main Entrance of the Centre. It's designed to look like a castle with flags :)

Children Reading Area and Reception Counter in my favourite PINK color !

Kids' Costumes Area
The person-in-charged of directing us brought us to the courtyard and brief us more information about the center. She is kind enough to answer all of the questions we have asked about the center. Since the center is only open for those with children of aged 0 to 12, so we are not allowed to go up to the highest floor.

Outdoor Playground

Colourful decorative interior spaces mainly designed for kids

We went a leisure walk at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park after visiting Children's story centre. The park is a relaxing place surrounded with greenery grass and there is a clean river with odourless smell. ( As you know the rivers in Malaysia are so dirty and smelly because of the pollution ).  The facades there look so abstract and yet futuristic.

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park

Greenery and beautiful flowers surrounded that area

Have a walk around that area while I was looking for public water closet.

The Olympic Park Stadium which is currently under reconstruction
ARCELORMITTAL ORBIT ? Hmm... sounds interesting.

ARCELORMITTAL ORBIT
an observation tower with 114m height.

(This is the most strangest building I have seen as the staircase are curved upward like a snake crawling up and it looked like a Roller Coaster for me WOW )

Rushing back to London City Centre to see the famous Big Ben and The Eye of London. The Big Ben is actually the Great Bell of the clock at the north end of the Palace of Westminster. I can feel how holiness and how spectacular the building is by standing in front of it. I can feel how small I am standing right in front of it. It is really a HUGE clock that would rings every hour. " dong dong dong dong ". The beautiful sky during the evening has touched up the building so I am able to capture a nice memorable photo of it :)
